We headed south over Memorial Day weekend to escape the cold, rainy weather we've been having in southern Idaho. We took the girls out of school a day early and when we went to pick them up Paige's teacher asked why we were headed back to Maui so soon. The kids kept referring to it as Maui the whole time we were there. It might as well have been after the 40 degree weather in Idaho Falls!
The Fife's were nice enough to let us tag along on their annual family trip and we had a blast!
The first morning we all got out on a bike ride. We weren't sure how Crew was going to handle being hooked up on a bicycle built for two. He's at a hard age for biking, too little to ride without training wheels and too big to ride in a seat on the back of one of our bikes. He was a little weary at first but did great after a few minutes!
Jim and I were both able to bike Slick Rock for the first time. Jim went with Jason one morning and I went solo the next (I just did the practice loop). We both had the bruises, scrapes and bumps to prove it. Jim crashed so hard and bent his back tire so badly, that he and Jason had to jump on it to bend it back into shape just so that they could get out. It happened to be at the furthest point from the trail head!
We rode to a great little musical park. I think Jim had more fun than the kids.
The Fife's eat at Pasta Jay's every single night! Here they are, what a cute couple!
Their adorable daughter Evie after a yummy lolli-pop. So cute!
Of course we went to Arches. These pictures obviously don't do it justice but we only had our little point and shoot which ran out of batteries after the first couple of shots.
We went to an enormous hill of sand which was infested with biting ants, lizards and snakes. Crew and Evie spent most of the time safely perched up on a rock. Jason and Bentley managed to catch a lizard's tail (which keeps on moving after it's been disconnected from the lizard's body-gross!, didn't know that) and then they almost caught a snake!
Of course, there was lots of swimming and hot tubbing.
We went to a cute little arts festival and they had some live salsa music. I love these pictures of the kids dancing, especially Crew's hands on his hips and his three--year-old lack of inhibition.
Lots of fun in the sun, cotton candy and owies.
What is with this kid's hat craze? Seriously.
We stopped in Salt Lake on the way home for a delicious home-cooked meal courtesy of Grandmommy, thanks Mom!
Then, back to Idaho Falls and reality...
